DIRECTOR OF ASIAN AMERICAN CULTURE
EMILY LA (羅嘉欣)
I have been performing Cantonese opera since I was 9 years old. I am drawn to its depth of storytelling and the intricate costumes that bring each story to life. Over the years, I have performed numerous traditional operas, including The Legend of the White Snake, The Butterfly Lovers, Princess Changping, and The Legend of the Purple Hairpin. I am passionate about preserving this ancient art form through performances and teaching the intricate techniques and rich history. I am dedicated to promoting Cantonese opera, sharing the beauty, tradition, and cultural heritage to audiences around the world. I am currently an undergraduate student at UCLA, majoring in Psychobiology and minoring in Asian American Studies.
